GOAL: Employer Satisfaction

Objective Employer Satisfaction With IND Intern
The employers of Interior Design interns will be willing to hire the intern for an entry-level employment position within their company.
Associated Goals: Employer Satisfaction

Indicator Employer Satisfaction  
The business supervisor evaluation form contains a question regarding the interior design intern's potential as an employee that will be extracted and reported as a percentage.
Criteria Employer Satisfaction
At least 70% of business supervisors of IND student interns will indicate that they would hire the intern if there was an employment postion available in their company.
Finding Employer Satisfaction
80% of business supervisors of IND student interns indicated that they would hire the intern if they had an employement position available.
Indicator Employer Satisfaction Rating Of IND Intern  
The business supervisor evaluation form for IND interns includes a supervisor's rating of the intern that will be extracted and averaged.
Criteria Employer Satisfaction With IND Interns
At least 80% of business supervisors of IND interns would rate the intern''s work performance a 3.5 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
Finding Employer Satisfaction With IND Interns
60% of business supervisors rated the IND intern 3.5 or higher. The average score given by business supervisors was 4.0/5.0.

Maintain graduating IND students that meet employer expectation for entry-level position in the field of interior design.

100% of needed interior design curriculum changes will be proposed and approved.
Finding Progress toward IND Accreditation
100% of curriculum changes for the IND program have been sumitted to the college level curriculum commitee. Approval is pending.
Actions for Objective:

Action Progress toward IND Accreditation
Curriculum changes have been submitted and are waiting approval. Junior level studio courses have been developed and offered through an upper level independent study course number.

GOAL: Student Knowledge And Skills

Objective Knowledge And Skills
The interior design student who graduates will demostrate the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level positions in the interior design profession.

Indicator Interior Design Knowledge And Skills  
The program Exit Survey for interior design majors includes a section that test the retention of course material. It is evaluated as a high pass, pass and low pass.
Criteria Interior Design Knowledge and Skills
At least 80% of interior design students who complete the IND program Exit Survey will score a Pass or High Pass.
Finding Interior Design Knowledge and Skills
100% of interior design students who completed the program''s Exit survey scored a Pass. The average score was 80%.

Continue to provide the interior design students with learning opportunities that lead to high retention of course materials.

The AB2 building and facilities used by the interior design student will be regarded as satisfactory.

The program Exit Survey data that includes rating of this dimension will be extracted and averaged.
Criteria Building Facilities
At least 80% of graduating interior design students will rate this dimension of the department with an average score of 3.0/4.0.
Finding Building/Facilities
50% of graduating interior design students indicated their satisfaction with the building and facilities in AB2 at a 3.0/4.0 or higher. The average score however was 2.5/4.0 was indicated by the interior design students.
Actions for Objective:

Action Building/Facilities
Enhance the interior design studio space (Room 315) with computer/drafting tables to increase quality of facilities to meet the student expectation. Continue to maintain other parts of the building and facilities that meet the expectations of the students.

GOAL: Student Satisfaction

Objective Faculty
The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences will employ faculty who are viewed as satifactory by interior design students.

The Program Exit Survey data that includes rating of faculty will be extracted and averaged.
Criteria Faculty
At least 80% of graduating interior design students will rate this dimension of the department with an average score of 3.0/4.0.

100% of interior design graduating students rated the faculty 3.0/4.0. The average score of all interior design students was 3.0/4.0.

The interior design program will provide the student professional organizations, American Society for Interior Designers and Kappa Omicron Nu, that will be viewed as satisfactory for professional growth.
