The employers of Interior Design interns will be willing to hire the intern for an entry-level employment position within their company.

Indicator Employer Satisfaction
The business supervisor evaluation form contains a question regarding the interior design intern's potential as an employee that will be extracted and reported as a percentage.
Criteria Employer Satisfaction
At least 70% of business supervisors of IND interns will indicate that they would hire the intern if there was an employment position available in their company.
Finding Employer Satisfaction
86% of business supervisors of IND student interns with the BS degree indicated they would hire the intern if they had an employment position available.
Indicator Employer Satisfaction Rating Of IND Intern
The business supervisor evaluation form for IND interns includes a supervisor's rating of the intern that will be extracted and averaged.
Criteria Employer Staisfaction Rating of IND Interns
At least 80% of business supervisors of IND interns would rate the intern''s work performance a 3.5 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
Finding Employer Satisfaction With IND Interns
87% of business supervisors rated the IND intern with a BS degree 3.5 or higher. The average score given by business supervisors was 4.4/5.0.

Maintain graduating IND students with a BS degree that meet employer expectation for entry-level positions in in the field of interior design.

Enhance the rigor of the current program with information on employer expectations, the most current interior design resource information, and new software for drafting and illustrating.

The program Exit Survey for interior design majors includes a section that test the retention of course material. It is evaluated as a high pass, pass and low pass.
Criteria Interior Design Knowledge and Skills
At least 80% of interior Design students who complete the program Exit Survey will score a Pass or High pass.
Finding Interior Design Knowledge And Skills
80% of interior design students with a BS degree who completed the program''s Exit Survey scored a Pass. The average score was 82%.

The AB2 building and facilities used by the interior design student will be regarded as satisfactory.

At least 80% of graduating interior design students will rate this dimension of the department with an average score of 3.0/4.0.
Finding Building /Facility
60% of graduating interior design students with a BS degree indicated their satification with the buinding and facilities in AB2 at a 3.0/4.0 or higher. The average score of 2.8/4.0 was indicated by the interior design students with a BS degrgee.
Actions for Objective:

Action Building/Facilities
Continue to maintain the interior design studio space (AB2-Room 315) with computers/drafting table to increase quality of facilities to meet the expectations of the interior design students working on the BS degree. Continue to maintain other parts of the building and facilities that meet the expectation of the students. Student assessment of faculities has improved over previous year with the addition of the computers in the Design Studio space (AB2-Room 315), however the space is crowded with additional resource materials that are difficult to keep organized.

At least 80% of graduation interior design students will rate this dimension of the department with an average score of 3.0/4.0.
Finding Faculty
86% of interior design graduating students with a BS degree rated the faculty 3.0/4.0. The average score of all interior design students with a BS degree was 3.0/4.0.

Continue to provide professional, high-quality instruction service to inteiror design students working on the BS degree.

The interior design program will provide students networking opportunitues with interior desgin professional that will be regarded as satifactory.

At lease 80% of graduating interior design students will rate this dimension of the department with an average score of 3.0/4.0.

60% of graduating interior design student with a BS degree rated they were satisfied with their networking opportunities with a score of 3.0/4.0 or higher. The average score was 2.73.
Actions for Objective:

Action Networking Opportunities
Continue to provide a broad range of networking opportunities for interior design students working on the BS degree. Emphasize to students that networking during their term at Sam Houston should start when they enter the program and includes all classroom guest speakers, participation in professional organization activities and contacts made during an internship experience. Several students who indicated a lower level of satisfaction with networking opportunities were also looking for internships in more distance communities where there was no previous internship connection made by the program.

The interior design program will provide the student professional organizations, ASID and KON, that will be viewed as satisfactory for professional growth.

At least 80% of graduating interior design students will indicate a satisfaction with the program''s professional organization with a score of 3.0/4.0.

73% of graduating interior design students with a BS degree indicated they were satified with a rating of 3.0/4.0 for the programs''''s professional organization. The average score was 2.9/4.0.
Actions for Objective:

Action Professional Organizations
Continue providing interior design students working on the BS degree with appropriate opportunities for partipation in professional organizations. Of the students working on the BS degree there were several who were commuters or were employed who could not make the meeting times established by the professional organization. This had a great affect on the outcome of the findings in this area.
