Objective Employer Satisfaction With IND Intern
The employers of Interior Design interns will be willing to hire the intern for an entry-level employment position within their company.

Indicator Employer Satisfaction
The business supervisor evaluation form contains a question regarding the interior design intern's potential as an employee that will be extracted and reported as a percentage.
Criteria Employer Satisfaction
At least 70% of business supervisors of IND student interns will indicate that they would hire the intern if there was an employment postion available in their company.
Finding Employer Satisfaction
100% of business supervisors of IND student interns with the BA degree indicated they would hire the intern if they had an employment position available.
Indicator Employer Satisfaction Rating Of IND Intern
The business supervisor evaluation form for IND interns includes a supervisor's rating of the intern that will be extracted and averaged.
Criteria Employer Satisfaction With IND Interns
At least 80% of business supervisors of IND interns would rate the intern''s work performance a 3.5 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
Finding Employer Satisfaction With IND Interns
100% of business supervisors rated the IND intern with a BA degree 3.5 or higher. The average score given by business supervisors was 4.5/5.0.

Maintain graduating IND students with a BA degree that meet employer expectation for entry-level position in the field of interior design.

Enhance the rigor of the current program with information on employer expectations, the most current interior design resource information, and new software for drafting and illustrating.

The interior design student who graduates will demostrate the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level positions in the interior design profession.

Indicator Interior Design Knowledge And Skills
The program Exit Survey for interior design majors includes a section that test the retention of course material. It is evaluated as a high pass, pass and low pass.
Criteria Interior Design Knowledge and Skills
At least 80% of interior design students who complete the IND program Exit Survey will score a Pass or High Pass.
Finding Interior Design Knowledge and Skills
50% of interior design students with a BA degree who completed the program''''s Exit Survey scored a Pass. The average score was 75%.

Action Interior Design Knowledge and Skills
Continue to provide the interior design students working on the BA degree with learning opportunities that lead to high retention of course materials. Encourage students to complete the program''s Exit Survey assessment so it accurately reflects the student''s knowledge and skills. Of the small number of students, 1/4, the impact of the lack of appropriate student assessment of knowledge and skills had a great affect on the outcome of the findings in this area. Evidence from the business supervisors who would hire students with a BA degree indcates that the student knowledge and skills is strong.

The program Exit Survey data that includes rating of this dimension will be extracted and averaged.
Criteria Building Facilities
At least 80% of graduating interior design students will rate this dimension of the department with an average score of 3.0/4.0.
Finding Building Facilities
75% of graduating interior design students with a BA degree indicated their satification with the buinding and facilities in AB2 at a 3.0/4.0 or higher. The average score of 2.75/4.0 was indicated by the interior design students with a BA degree.
Actions for Objective:

Action Building Facilities
Continue to maintain the interior design studio space (AB2-Room 315) with computers/drafting table to increase quality of facilities to meet the expectations of the interior design students working on the BA degree. Continue to maintain other parts of the building and facilities that meet the expectation of the students. Student assessment of faculities has improved over previous year with the addition of the computers in the Design Studio space (AB2-Room 315), however the space is crowded with additional resource materials that are difficult to keep organized.

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences will employ faculty who are viewed as satifactory by interior design students.

At least 80% of graduating interior design students will rate this dimension of the department with an average score of 3.0/4.0.

100% of interior design graduating students with a BA degree rated the faculty 3.0/4.0. The average score of all interior design students with a BA degree was 3.0/4.0.

Continue to provide professional, high-quality instruction service to inteiror design students working on the BA degree.

Action Networking Opportunities
Continue to provide a broad range of networking opportunties for interior design students working on the BA degree. Emphasize to students that networking during their term at Sam Houston should start when they enter the program and includes all classroom guest speakers, participation in professional organization activities and contacts made during an internship experience. Of the small number of students, 1/4, the impact of the lack of students interest in seeking out networking opportunities had a great affect on the outcome of the findings in this area.

The interior design program will provide the student professional organizations, ASID and KON, that will be viewed as satisfactory for professional growth.

Continue to provide interior design students working on the BA degree with appropriate opportunties for partipation in professional organizations. Of the small number of students, 2/4, the impact of the lack of students interest in the professional organization had a great affect on the outcome of the findings in this area.

Of the small number of students, 1/4, the impact of the lack of appropriate student evaluation of the program content had a great affect on the outcome of the findings in this area. Evidence from the business supervisors who would hire students with a BA degree indcates that the program content is strong.
