The supervisor evaluation form for fashion merchandising interns includes a supervisor rating of the intern that will be extracted and reported as a percentage.

80% of business supervisors of fashion merchandising interns would give the intern a rating of 3.5 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
Finding Employer Satisfaction with FCS Interns
100% of business supervisors of program graduates from 2007-2008 rated interns 4.0 or higher on a 5.0 scale.

Employer ratings of student interns who graduated during the 2007-2008 year were high (4.0, 4.5, and 5.0 on a 5.0 scale) indicating that the overall program is very sound and that no major changes in the program are recommended.

100% of business supervisors of these students as interns indicated that they would hire the program graduate given the availability of a suitable entry-level management position in the company.

Action Employer Satisfaction With FCS Interns
100% of employers recommended hiring or made entry-level management positions offers to interns/program graduates for 2007-2008 meaning that the graduates were well-prepared work in fashion merchandising. No further action is required in this regard.

GOAL: Student Knowledge Of Content Area

Objective Knowledge And Skills
Students graduating from the fashion merchandising program will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level management in fashion retailing/merchndising positions.

Indicator Survey Data  
The exit survey for fashion merchandising majors includes a section that tests retention of course material and a case study that applies directly to retail apparel merchandising; it is graded on a pass/fail basis.
Criteria Survey Data
80% of students who complete the fashion merchandising program''s Exit Survey will score of a grade of Pass or High Pass according to the standardized grading rubric.
Finding Knowledge and Skills
67% of program graduates for 2007-2008 scored a grade of Pass or High Pass on the fashion merchandising program''s Exit Survey according to the standardized grading rubric.
Actions for Objective:

Action Knowledge and Skills
Faculty in the fashion merchandising program will review the exam to determine whether the content is appropriate (i.e, reflective of content in the curriculum). A further change could be a revamp of the Exit Survey. Other factors (employer ratings, e.g.) indicate that course content is thorough and appropriate.

GOAL: Student Satisfaction

Objective Building Facilities
The faculty and staff will provide a department viewed by the students as satisfactory in regard to the building facilities.

80% of graduating seniors will rate the facility used by the department with a score of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale.

67% of program graduates for 2007-2008 rated the building and facilities for the program at least 3 on a 4.0 scale.
Actions for Objective:

Action Building/Facilities
Two out of three program graduates for the BA in the 2007-2008 academic year rated the building/facilities 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and the other student rated the building 1.0 on a 4.0 scale. Faculty will contact the one student with the low rating in order to ascertain her concerns regarding the building/facilities.

No major change in faculty is needed based on this survey data feedback. (Minor change in one adjunct teaching in the program occurred due to a change in availability of instructors.)

Objective Opportunities For Networking
The faculty will provide a department viewed by the students as satisfactory in regard to opportunities for networking.

33% of graduates for the 2007-2008 academic year rated opportunities for networking 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale.

Action Opportunities for Networking
Faculty in program will make a more concerted effort to direct students toward networking opportunities, including career fairs, career days, and guest speakers. Dr. White and Dr. Griggs will work on this.

The faculty will provide a department viewed by the students as satisfactory in regard to professional organizations.

Perhaps this objective should be removed from the feedback loop -- there were only three students included in this group of BA graduates in 2007-2008, and one commuted, making it difficult for her to participate in the professional organization and another choose not to participate.

Action Program Content
Program will continue offering content as outlined in the college catalog and course syllabuses and with current textbook offerings except for a change of textbook in FCS 266 based on student survey data. A newly published textbook for FCS 266 is superior in content to what was previously available.
