Finding Computer Science
The undergraduate program is undergoing a transition period from a previous curriculum to one which meets or exceeds ABET standards. A review of graduating senior transcripts revealed that 1 of 7 December 2007 graduating seniors had 26 hours of core Computer Science and 18 hours of track oriented courses work. Three of four graduating seniors in May 2008 had 26 hours of core Computer Science and 18 hours of track oriented course work. While the criterion for success has not been met, the new curriculum is cycling through.
Criteria Mathematics
100% of students graduating will have at least fifteen hours of mathematics on their transcript including MTH 295 and six hours of upper division credit
Finding Mathematics
The department is currently undergoing a transition period from an old curriculum which required 12 hours of mathematics and a new curriculum requiring an additional 3 hours (Discrete Mathematics). A review of transcripts of students graduating in December revealed that two of seven students graduated with 15 hours of mathematics. In May 2008, three of four students graduated with 15 hours or more of Mathematics.

100% of graduating seniors will have at least sixteen hours of natural sciences with at least 8 hours in each of two science.

A review of graduating senior transcripts in December and May revealed that 100% of graduating seniors had 16 or more hours of natural science coursework with at least eight hours in each of two distinct scientific fields.

Abstraction in Computer science is primarily concerned with ability to move from a description of a real world problem to an understanding of the data, structures, relationships and processing required to produce useful and accurate output. Eighty percent of all courses in the core will have an average student evaluation rating of 4.0 or better on ''progress on Relevant Objectives''

The department will add a departmentally managed computer lab in AB1 215 providing up to date equipment and appropriate software. Over the next three years the department will provide computer equipment for all students in general teaching rooms.

The undergraduate program is undergoing a transition period from a previous curriculum to one which meets or exceeds ABET standards. A review of graduating senior transcripts revealed that 1 of 7 December 2007 graduating seniors had 26 hours of core Computer Science and 18 hours of track oriented courses work. Three of four graduating seniors in May 2008 had 26 hours of core Computer Science and 18 hours of track oriented course work. While the criterion for success has not been met, the new curriculum is cycling through.

The need for a team-oriented project in at least one of the courses in each track has been identified as an issue that must be addressed. The undergraduate curriculum committee has been tasked for the fall 2008 semester to identify appropriate courses in each track and modify the syllabi and the teaching approaches in each of the targeted course to with a view to implementation for Spring 2009.
