GOAL: Faculty Excellence

Objective Faculty Publications And Presentations
The Health department will recruit, maintain and develop a highly-qualified graduate teaching faculty.

Indicator Faculty Professional Productivity
All members of the graduate Health faculty are professionally active and engaged in research and publications.
Criteria Faculty Publications and Presentations
All members of the health graduate faculty will have published an article or book chapter or will have presented a paper at a professional conference during the 2007-2008 academic year
Finding Faculty Publications/Presentations
The three full-time graduate Health faculty exceeded the target. Each faculty had at least one publication and more than two professional conference presentations.
Actions for Objective:

Action Faculty Publications/Presentations
Continue to support faculty publication and presentations efforts. Continue to allocate funds to support faculty travel to present their research at professional conferences. Data will be used for annual FES, promotion/tenure, and merit consideration.

GOAL: Institutional Effectiveness

Objective Comprehensive MA Health Exam
MA Health students will name the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the graduate comprehensive examination required of all students who earn the MA in health.

Indicator MA Health Exam Evaluation
Students will successully pass the comprehensive exam.
Criteria MA Health Exam Evaluation
Students will pass all areas of the exam.
Finding MA Health Exam Evaluation
During the 2007-2008 academic year only one MA Health student took and passed the comprehensive exam. (100%)

Indicator Faculty Effectiveness
The Chair and graduate students will annually evaluate the teaching effectiveness of each faculty member.
Criteria Faculty Teacher Evaluations
Health graduate faculty will score at or above the national average on the IDEA teacher evaluation instrument.
Finding Faculty Teaching Evaluations
The three full-time graduate Health faculty scored at or above the national average on the IDEA teacher evaluation instrument. Faculty 1 –4.8 Faculty 2 –4.6 Faculty 3 –4.5

M.A. Health students will fulfill the stated University, College of Education, and Department of Health and Kinesiology requirements for graduation.

Indicator Student Graduation Status
The Health Graduate Coordinator will certify that all graduation requirements have been met by graduate candidate.
Criteria MA Health Exam Evaluation
A minimum pass rate of 90% of all students taking the graduate comprehensive examination. [Note: A student who fails any section(s) of the comprehensive examination is allowed a single retake of the section(s)].

GOAL: Visibility And Impact

Objective Scholarly Inquiry/ Research
MA Health students will demonstrate competence in applying research methodologies, qualitative and quantitative analysis; literature review; and use of traditional and digital resources.

Indicator Research Presentations
MA Health students will develop their skills in research, analysis, writing, and communication in research presentations.
Criteria Student Research Projects
All MA Health students will achieve a grade of A or B on a research project based on a problem related to the field of health.
Finding Student Research Projects
During the 2007-2008 academic year, 18 students enrolled in HED 574, Research Seminar, developed a proposal for a research project. 60% of the students received a grade of “A” and 40% of the students received a grade of “B”.

Continue to monitor students success of successfully conducting research and making necessary adjustments as needed.
