GOAL: Faculty Excellence

Objective Faculty Scholarship
Increase activity by Health faculty in presentations, publication, grants submitted, and dollars awarded.
Associated Goals: Faculty Excellence

Indicator Faculty Presentations
Count number of presentations and grant applications reported on 2006 FES and compare to FES 2005 presentations/grants data.
Criteria Presentations
80% of the Health faculty will make at least one professional presentation during the 2006-2007 academic year.
Finding Presentations
Target met. All of the faculty made at least two or more professional presentations during the 2006-2007 academic year. Travel funds were increased from $600.00 to $1000.00 per faculty member.
Indicator Faculty Publications
Count the number of publications reported on 2006 FES and compare to 2005 publications reported on FES.
Criteria Publications
80% of the Health faculty will have at least one professional publication during the 2006-2007 academic year.
Finding Publications
All tenure and tenure-track faculty are actively engaged in producing scholarly products in their sub-disciplines.
Actions for Objective:

Action Presentations
Continue to support faculty presentations. Seek additional funds to support faculty travel to present their research. Department increased faculty from $1000.00 to $1500.00 per faculty member for 2007-2008. Data will be used for annual FES, promotion/tenure, and merit consideration.
Action Publications
Continue to support faculty research and publications. Encourage health faculty to seek out more tier I and II journals for their work to be published. Data will be used for annual FES, promotion and tenure and merit consideration.

Objective Professional Service
Increased number of Health faculty servicing and seeking to serve as leaders and committee member in professional organizations.

Indicator Faculty Service
Count the number of committee assignments reported on FES by Health faculty and compare to previous year.
Criteria Professional Service
70% of Health faculty will have service engagement in one or more professional organizations.
Finding Professional Service
Target met. All Health faculty members are assigned to several University and professional committees.
Actions for Objective:

Action Professional Service
Continue to support and encourage service contributions from all faculty. Seek meaningful incentives for faculty that are highly engaged in service activities. Data will be used for annual FES, promotion/tenure, and merit consideration.

Full-time tenure-track faculty will score above the national average on the IDEA teacher evaluation instrument.

80% of full-time faculty will score at or above the national average on the IDEA teacher evaluation instrument.

GOAL: Quality And Effectiveness

Objective Employment Opportunities
Offer appropriate courses in the curriculum(core, degree specific, major, and minor) which adequately prepare students to work in the fitness setting.

Indicator Measurement And Assessment
The following will be collected for measurement and assessment: student’s overall grade point average, student’s major grade point average, student’s minor grade point average, and passing rate for any health or fitness related certification exam.
Criteria Evaluation
Success will be represented by: overall, major, and minor grade point average of 2.0 or greater, and seventy percent passing rate on health or fitness certification exams.
Finding Evaluation
Health BA (Fitness) students with a grade point average of 2.0 or greater in their major and minor successfully met the target and was approved for graduation. None of the Health BA (Fitness) students took the health or fitness certification exams during the 2006-2007 academic year.

Continue to assist students with their academic studies by providing instructional support, resources, and information.

Provide quality internship experience for all Health fitness students.

80% of health interns will receive a rating of satisfactory or better by internship supervisor.

The department of Health faculty attended a total of thirteen (13) events during 2006-2007 for the purpose of student recruitment.
