Minutes from the April 2007 Advisory Committee Meeting: The Advisory Committee brainstormed issues and possible options to address the needs of training counselors, as well as serving the public’s mental health needs.
1. Internship issue: Utilize a proactive, needs assessment/outreach to obtain clients
2. Community counseling course to be added
3. Jack Staggs free clinic: consider increase of operation hours to day times, weekends
4. Need to better prepare our counselors to address “Real needs with real people” (e.g. new trends in adolescent acting out behaviors)
5. Service learning projects six hours community volunteer service
