GOAL: Curriculum Development

Objective Structured Classes
Faculty will develop courses that will meet the content area needs of students interested in any of the program areas offered in the department
Associated Goals: Curriculum Development

Indicator Statistics Course
Students will be required to take a graduate level statistics course early in the program.
Criteria Statistics classes
All MS students are required to take SOC 543 within the first 12 hours of coursework.
Finding Structured classes
100% of the students took research methods and statistics in the 1st 12 hours

FCS Faculty will review the curriculum.
Criteria Structured classes
FCS faculty will review curriculum and advise chair as to needed curriculum changes.

Action Structured classes
Begin the development process of the new curriculum with suggestions for name changes and cross-listing of courses from Sociology and Communication Studies.

GOAL: Student Enrolment

Objective Recruitment Effort
Increase recruitment efforts through awareness, inidividual focus promotions in areas of interior design, fashion merchandising, teacher certification and nutrition. Increase enrollment and number of courses offered in each area of the department
Associated Goals: Student Enrolment

Indicator Recruitment Indicator
Participation in recruitment fairs at all major conferences in all disciplines of FCS; improvement of the department's website with promotional video clips; periodic mailings of program brochures to undergraduate FCS programs in Texas and surrounding states; increase the number of courses offered in each of the major pre-professional areas of FCS
Criteria Student recruitment
Student enrollment will increase by 100% to meet the minimum enrollment requirements for a full "General FCS" class; Triple the number of graduate applications in the General FCS

GOAL: Student Knowledge Of Content Area

Objective Knowledge And Skills
Students graduating from the MS in FCS program will demonstrate adequate knowledge and skills necessary for upper level employment positions in their selected fields.
Associated Goals: Student Knowledge Of Content Area

Indicator Knowledge And Skills
Comprehensive exams for Family and Consumer Sciences covers all major and minor course areas undertaken by each student; grades are assigned on a High Pass, Pass, or Fail basis.
Criteria Knowledge and skills
At least 80% of the students who complete the masters program in FCS will score a grade of pass or higher on the comprehensive exam
Finding Knowledge and skills
100% of the graduates scored a pass or high pass on the comprehensive exams

Continue to provide students with learning opportunities that lead to academic excellence
