Indicator
Written Demonstration Of Application Of Principles
As a part of their assessed work, students will be required to apply the leadership and management principles presented in their courses to their own working environments. This will be in the form of essay exam questions or learning journal entries. This indicator will not be based on the examination or journal entries as a whole, but rather, on those aspects of the assignment that focus directly on the application of principles.
Criterion
Students Will Be Successful On Journal Entries
Over 50% of students will receive an average rating on their learning journal entries.  Average means that the topic and issue are clearly related.  Above average means the issue description very clearly involves the topic(s) selected.  Outstanding means the issue description very strongly involves core theme(s) of the course.

Finding
Students Meet 50% Success

Assessment Employing Exit Exam For 2014-15
In FY 2014-15, an exit exam consisting of questions on research methods, statistics, administration, and leadership will be developed and implemented.  Satisfactory performance will be evidenced by a score of at least 70% on the exam.  The exam will not be part of the assessment process of any course.

Previous Cycle's "Plan for Continuous Improvement"

Instead of the "85% satisfactory" criterion, we will develop and employ rubrics.
Update on Previous Cycle's "Plan for Continuous Improvement"

A rubric was developed to measure students' learning journal entries.  The rubric examined the selection of topic, how the topic related to the course, how well the student selected an issue in which the topic applied, and described how the issue/incident relates theory to practice.

Plan for Continuous Improvement

For the 2014-15 academic year, an Exit Exam will be developed to gauge students' performance on research methods, statistics, administration, and leadership.  The exam itself will not be an assessment process for any course but rather an assessment of how well those students graduating from the program perform in these areas.  We would like for all students to achieve 70% on the exit exam in all areas.
