SACSCOC Fifth Year Interim Report
Welcome to Sam Houston State University’s SACSCOC Fifth Year Interim Report website. On behalf of the entire university community, please allow me to express our appreciation to you for your contributions to the reaffirmation of accreditation process.
Sam Houston State University is a strong advocate of continuous improvement. The reaffirmation of accreditation process created by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is an invaluable component of our continuous improvement efforts. The process required a thorough review that helped us develop a better focus on our strengths and weaknesses.
The completion of the Fifth Year Interim Report is not an end, but rather serves as a benchmark for our future development. We identified some areas that needed improvement and we have already started moving forward to address them. At the same time, we are cognizant of the need to continue to build upon our many strengths. Improved tools and procedures that were developed during this process have kindled an enthusiasm for what we expect to accomplish.
At Sam Houston State University, we pride ourselves on our proactive efforts to serve our students and constituents. Yet, even in an environment that promotes initiatives, it is easy for segments of an organization to become complacent or too narrowly focused. The reaffirmation of accreditation process reminds us not to declare victory. Indeed, it serves as a catalyst to seek excellence in all areas addressed by the accreditation standards.
Once again, let me thank you for contributing your time and expertise to the reaffirmation process. Please contact me if I can be of any service.
Sincerely,
Dana G. Hoyt
President
