GOAL: Develop Professional Skills

Professional Career Skills
Students who complete UNIV 4301, the BGS capstone course, will demonstrate at least average professional career skills.

Rubric  
A common rubric is used to judge the form, format, and writing techniques of the resume and cover letter students complete in collaboration with SHSU Career Services.
Criterion  
At Least 75% On Professional Career Documents  
Students are expected to score at least 75% on the rubric judging the professional career documents.
Finding  
No Students In UNIV 4301  
There were no students in the capstone course, UNIV 4301. 
Actions for Objective:

Although we had no students taking UNIV 4301 during 2011-2012, we expect at least three students completing the capstone course and graduating in 2012-2013.


GOAL: Integration Of Concepts And Content Related To Academic Minors

Objective  
Capstone Integrated Paper
Students completing UNIV 4301 will demonstrate critical thinking and writing skills by writing a paper integrating content and concepts from at least two of the three minors.

Indicator  
Score Rubric For Integrated Paper  
A common rubric will be used to score the integrated paper stressing the ability to write an paper integrating concepts and content for at least two of the three academic minors.
Criterion  
75% Score On Integrated Paper  
Students will be expected to score 45 out of 60 points, or 75%, on the integrated minor paper.
Finding  
No Students In 2011-2012  
No students enrolled in the capstone course, UNIV 4301, during 2011-2012.
Actions for Objective:

We anticipate at least three students to enroll in UNIV 4301 and graduate during 2012-2013.



Closing the Loop

Since the BGS program is new and small to date, we had no students enrolled in the common capstone course, UNIV 4301, during 2011-2012.  However, we are expecting at least three students to be enrolled and graduate during 2012-2013.
