GOAL: Exhibit Contemporary Art And Creative Research

Visiting Artists And Professionals
The gallery will host visiting artists and professionals to lecture, curate exhibitions, demonstrate media and methods, and critique student work.

Plan For 2012-13 Exhibition Season  
The Gallery Committee will schedule exhibitions by artists working in a diversity of mediums for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters. Artists from around the United States will be invited to exhibit their work, give public lectures and offer critiques and workshops to students.

Student Exhibitions
The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery will exhibit and promote the work of students in the Art Department.

Actions for Objective:

Action  
Schedule Exhibitions And Juror  
The Gallery Committee will schedule the 14th annual Juried Student Exhibition for Spring 2013. A professional artist or arts professional with a national reputation will be invited to select award winning student work and to give a public lecture in conjunction with the exhibition.
The Gallery Committee will schedule Graduating Senior Exhibitions during finals week of Fall 2012 and Spring 2013, and a Graphic Design Senior Exhbition to be held at the end of the Spring 2013 semester.

Exhibit Art From Around The United States
The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery will host exhibitions of contemporary art in a variety of medium by artists from diverse backgrounds from all over United States. The exhibitions will be open to the public. University faculty, staff, students and members of the local community will be encouraged to attend.

Schedule Significant Exhibitions By Nationally Recognized Artists  
The Gallery Committee will draw on their knowledge and expertise to invite Nationall Reknown artists from across the country to exhibit at the Gaddis geeslin gallery. Each committee member wil curate one of the 4 exhibitions that will include artists working in Photography, sculpture, performance and video, and mixed media installations. Each exhibition will be accompanied by scheduled artists' lectures, workshops, and critiques by the visitiing artists. 
The Gallery Committee will advertise the events and promote opportunities for the local and university communities to interact with the art and the artists. 


GOAL: Exhibit Contemporary Art And Creative Research

Faculty Exhibitions
The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery will exhibit and promote the creative research of Art Department faculty.

Actions for Objective:

Action  
Faculty Will Exhibit In Alternating Years  
The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery will continue to exhibit work by art faculty in the begining of the Spring semesters. Each year, half of the faculty will be included in an exhibition. This cycle will continue with each faculty member in an exhibition in alternating years until the Art Department acquires larger exhibition spaces.



Closing the Loop

The Gaddis Geeslin Gallery had an extremely successful season of exhibitions in 2011-2012. The gallery exhibited works by 17 artists from around the US who are nationally recognized, sorks by half of the current SHSU art faculty, and 4 exhibtions of work by SHSU students. The Gallery presented public lectures by 10 artists during the year. The Gallery Committee will organize an exhibition schedule for the 2012-13 academic year that provides the University and Local Communities with access to contemporary art and research by SHSU students and faculty and by professional artists from across the United States.
