GOAL: Develop Knowledge And Skills

Objective  
Develop Knowledge And Skills In Industrial Technology
Students, through the MA Curriculum, will demonstrate a global perspective of technology while also gaining scientific and technical knowledge with research and analytical skills in industrial technology and related areas.

Indicator  
Written And Oral Comprehensive Exams  
All MA students pursuing the thesis route are required to successfully complete a oral examination and all MA students pursuing the non-thesis route are required to successfully complete a written comprehensive exam.  A committee of faculty members with expertise in the subject area will evaluate students’ oral and written performances using a faculty-developed scoring mechanism rating depth of knowledge base, theoretical concepts, soundness of argument, critical thinking, and originality/insight.  Scoring results in Fail, Low Pass, Pass, and High Pass.
Criterion  
80% Pass On First Attempt  
Faculty expect that at least 80% of graduate students will pass the exam on their first attempt of their oral or written comprehensive examinations.  100% will pass on their second attempt.
Finding  
Comprehensive Examination  
All students successfuly complete their comprehensive examinations on the first attempt.  All students were rated as pass or high pass.

All students have graduated from program; no new  students were admitted in academic year 2011-12.  With these final graduates, the program is being closed.


GOAL: Professional Development

Objective  
Development Of Marketplace Skills
Students pursuing a Master of Science in Industrial Technology will demonstrate competency in skills required for the professional in the marketplace.

Indicator  
AGRI 6140 Assignment Rubric  
All students seeking a MA Degree will be required to complete assignments for AGRI 6140.  The course addresses essential skills necessary to compete in the professional market place and scientific thinking.  Faculty will review student assignments and assess student performance on selected assignments using a faculty-developed scoring system.
Criterion  
80% Of Students Meeting Expectations  
Faculty evaluations will indicate that at least 80% of the students enrolled in AGR 614 will perform at an acceptable level and score a 3 (meets expectations) or higher on a scale of 1-5.
Finding  
Marketplace Skills Assessment  
No students were enrolled in AGRI 6140 during 2011-2012.

No ITEC students were enrolled in the course for assessment.



Closing the Loop

The MA in Industrial Technology accepted no new students in Academic Year 2011-2012 because the Coordinating Board Graduation Standards were not met.  Faculty are evaluating the program and will propose a new program in a minimum of 5 years.
