Finding | Enrollments Last year, there were 42 Spanish majors and 42 minors. This year, there were 50 Spanish majors and 53 minors. This is an increase of 16% for the majors and 21% for the minors. |
Action | Enrollment Growth We will continue recruitment efforts and efforts to raise the profile of the department. |

Indicator | ExCET Students seeking teaching certification must take this content test and pass it successfully. |
Criteria | ExCET 80% of students will score 70% or higher in all five domains: listening; written communication; language structure; vocabulary and usage; and language and culture. |
Finding | ExCET Scores 8 students passed and 2 student failed for a 80% pass rate of 70% or higher in all of the domains, except 2 students who did not achieve a 70% on at least one domain but passed the exam. The students that failed passed 1 or 2 of the 5 domains, domain areas regarding vocabulary and usage and language and culture. |
Indicator | TOPT--Spanish Content Students seeking teaching certification will take this test to demonstrate oral proficiency. |
Criteria | TOPT 90% of students who must take the TOPT text will pass this test. |
Finding | TOPT Scores 23 out of 24 students passed the TOPT for 96%. |
Action | ExCET Scores--improvement Although we matched our target, this test will be slowly phased out by the state, so we will be changing to the OPI exam, which is accepted by ACTFL. |
Action | TOPT Scores Again, our students did very well. We will be switching to the OPI exam in the future to adhere to ATFL standards. |
