GOAL: Enhanced Technology

Objective Installation of surveillance cameras
Residence Life will create a plan for surveillance cameras to be installed in residence halls
Associated Goals: Enhanced Technology

Indicator Reported vandalism
The amount of vandalism that occurs in the residence halls will be measured based on the monetary amount reported by residence hall staff each fiscal year.
Criteria Reduction in vandalism rates
Vandalism rates will decrease by half of rate reported in 2004-05.
Finding Expected decrease in vandalism rates
Vandalism costs were expected to drop by approximately one-third from reported costs of $30,839.34 in FY''05 due to installation of cameras in Sam Houston Village, Raven Village and Jackson-Shaver halls. Goal was reported vandalism costs of no more than $20,000.00. Total cost for 06-07 was $10,351.88.
Actions for Objective:

Action Installation of surveillance cameras
Based on the reported costs of vandalism dropping from $30,839.34 down to $10,351.88 over a two-year period, we will continue to install public-area surveillance cameras in the residence halls to deter vandalism. King Hall will be installed for Fall 2007.

GOAL: Enhanced Technology

Objective Web-based maintenance reports
A program will be created in order for students to be able to report maintenance via the web pages.
Associated Goals: Enhanced Technology

Indicator Implementation of web-based maintenance reporting system
Implementation of web-based reprting system for residence hall students.
Actions for Objective:

Action Pursuing web-based maintenance program
Computer Services was unable to write or install such a program this year and status is unknown for next year. We will begin pursuing an off-campus vendor and acquiring information to move forward with this service.

GOAL: Enhanced Technology

Objective Web-based services
Web pages will be utilized by student residents to electronically handle all assignment-based business with the department, such as applications, renewal, roommate matching and other services.
Associated Goals: Enhanced Technology

Indicator Quality of Life Survey (regarding intentional use of web pages)
Intentional use of the web pages for performing assignment-based business will be measured by the frequency of students choosing to perform their business tasks over the web.
Criteria Implementation of additional web-based housing services
At least 60% of student surveys will show an interest in handling more housing business over the web pages.
Criteria Implementation of web-based maintenance reports
Computer services will implement the web-based maintenance reporting system phase for residence hall students
Finding Expected increase in using web pages for business
The survey results showed that increasing numbers of students (93.81% of survey respondents)are handling their housing business on-line, and 91.02% would like more on-line services added.
Finding Expected success of web-based reporting system
The system has not yet been written by Computer Services.
Actions for Objective:

Action Increase web-based housing business services
Due to the survey results, we will attempt to add more services on-line in the future, such as hall and room change requests and roommate matching.

GOAL: Improvement in Program Development

Objective Residence Life Cinema
Create more opportunities for student-targeted programming through media with Residence Life Cinema.
Associated Goals: Improvement in Program Development

Indicator Quality of Life Survey (regarding Residence Life Cinema)
Popularity and usage of Residence Life Cinema will be measured by a LIKERT scale as part of the Quality of Life survey.
Criteria Demonstrated student satisfaction with Residence Life Cinema
At least 60% of student surveys will show a rating of 4 or 5 on the LIKERT scale regarding use and popularity of Residence Life Cinema.
Finding Expected success of Residence Life Cinema
The data from the survey results shows that 70% of the respondents are viewing films on Residence Life Cinema; however 49.61% respondents reported that Residence Life Cinema did not increase their awareness of social issues and solutions.
Actions for Objective:

Action Residence Life Cinema
Will renew contract with company and will advertise more aggressively. Will also push use of discussion guides and movies for Sam 136 class.

GOAL: Improvement in Program Development

Objective Residence hall programming
Student residents are provided with educational and social programming opportunities to facilitate personal growth and development.
Associated Goals: Improvement in Program Development

Indicator Quality of Life Survey (regarding general hall programming)
A LIKERT scale within our Quality of Life survey will measure the success of and participation in general hall programming in the areas of Wellness, Diversity, Life Skills, Social Issues and the like.
Criteria Demonstrated student satisfaction with residence hall programming
At least 60% of student surveys will show a positive reaction to and attendance at residence hall programs provided by hall staff.
Finding Expected success of general residence hall program
Only 52.22% of survey respondents reported attending programs provided in their residence hall, and of those respondents 41.15% gave a generally negative response regarding increasing awareness of social issues and solutions.
Actions for Objective:

Action Improvement in program development
As the results implied that less than 60% of our residence hall students are attending and responding favorably to programs provided in the residence halls, we will be reviewing our programming requirements and looking for ways to improve this area.
